Low cost papers as release liner

UV curable silicone acrylates are very robust; their cure is unaffected by impurities in the substrates. This allows the use of most substrates for siliconizing, especially any sort of paper substrates, including low cost papers.

The current preferred materials used for release liners (Glassine/ SCK and CCK papers) are expensive because they have been optimized to work with thermally cured silicones. Alternatives to these papers are often more porous and thus require higher silicone coat weights.

We therefore developed Reduced Penetration Silicones (RPS) that reduces the penetration of the silicones into paper fibres. Our RPS silicones TEGO^® RC 1002 and RC 1009 are able to siliconize slightly porous papers with low coat weights. Thus, siliconising of alternative papers becomes economically possible. We have already qualified a number of cost effective alternative papers and applications.
